Max

I feel so lucky to have got to know Max just a little bit... and so sad that I won't get to know him as well as I would have liked, but nevertheless remember him for his warm-hearted nature and chilled-out manner, as well as never wiping the smile of his face :o) He lived with a very close friend of mine, Jo, and I can safely say from all the things she has told me over the last few years, that he was the most amazing friend anyone could ask for - encouraging, caring, understanding and fun.

My memories of Max are from drunken nights out on visits to Newcastle and of him n Eddie (the tag team) at the Stella tennis tournament last year. But above and beyond these comes Notting Hill Carnival 2004. Me and Jo went to meet Max towards the end of the day, where we went to a lock-in at a pub he used to work in. He was buzzing around, chatting to everyone and at the end of the night we went back to stay over at his, where his mum and dad were still up re-decorating the downstairs toilet!?! Anyway the following morning Max woke up, got into his dressing gown and slippers looking like a complete nerd (hehe)... and proceeded to go on in his hyper-active way (whilst cooking a big fry-up) about how he was the "King of Carnival". It was so, so funny and he was in his element on that hot summer's morning.

I know that Max will be sorely missed by the massive number of people that were touched by him during his life. His laid-back and fun-loving character is an inspiration to us all. I am truly saddened and send my warmest wishes to his family and close friends... And Max, August bank holiday won't be the same without the King of Carnival.
