As Max's tutor at Newcastle University I remember him with fondness -
his open friendliness, his willingness to tackle the problems that came
in his way, his humour - even the sheepish and penitent way he would
shuffle into my office to confess to some minute academic misdemeanour.
I shall miss it all, very much.
